My Joya Studio Care Package Unboxed ! 💛 ✨🕯️🖤

There are candles… and then there are Joya Studio candles.
Recently, I received a care package from the Brooklyn-based fragrance house @joyastudio, and let me tell you — this wasn’t just about scent. It was about design, storytelling, and emotion. Each piece in this collection felt like a multisensory work of art, thoughtfully crafted and layered with meaning. All products are made in USA.

About Joya Studio:

Founded in 2006 by Frederick Bouchardy, Joya Studio is a Brooklyn-based fragrance design house that crafts candles, perfumes, and sensory art objects. The name "Joya" means "jewel" in Spanish — a nod to the brand's mission to create precious, artistic fragrance experiences. Everything is made in-house at their studio on Vanderbilt Avenue, where they blend scent, sculpture, and design with a strong emphasis on craftsmanship and collaboration. Their artist partnerships often highlight creativity across disciplines — from graphic design to architecture and independent film.

Here’s a closer look at what I received, including scent profiles, artist collaborations, and what makes each item so special:

💛 Joya x Emerson Socks

Soft, pastel-dyed socks from Joya’s collaboration with artist and friend Kevin Emerson. Cozy, sustainable, and wearable reminders that comfort and luxury go hand-in-hand — even on your feet.

Composition No. 1 – Roll-On Perfume

A modern classic. Clean and bright with a citrusy opening that mellows into soft woods and florals. Elegant, minimal, and perfect for layering.'

Top Notes: Bright citrus, Italian mandarin, Valencia orange, and crisp quince
Heart: Lush white florals — heliotrope, tuberose, jasmine, camellia, and Damask rose
Base: Creamy sandalwood, soft musk, and a touch of tonka bean

Âmes Sœurs (Soul Mates) – Roll-On Perfume

Translated as “Soul Mates,” this scent is soft, sultry, and romantic. A blend of spice and softness that lingers without overpowering, think warm skin and deep connection.

Top Notes: Spicy tamarind, sparkling grapefruit, and crisp cypress
Heart: Rose, ginger, and blooming orange blossom
Base: Cedarwood, incense, amber, olibanum, vetiver, and sweet musk

🕯️ A24 Musical No. 6 Candle

Part of a special collab with the cult-favorite film studio A24. Inspired by the quiet moments before a scene begins — introspective, earthy, and almost meditative.
A24, based in NYC, is the creative force behind beloved films like Minari, Moonlight, Lady Bird, The Farewell, Midsommar, and Uncut Gems — known for bold storytelling and visual style.

Fragrance Notes: Fig leaf, muskmelon, pink pepper, rainwater, magnolia, lily of the valley
This candle channels the golden era of musicals — imagine lamp posts, top hats, synchronized tap routines, and women twirling in perfect circles. It’s fresh, nostalgic, and whimsical, with a playful blend of florals and soft fruits, layered over a rainy-stage ambiance. A scent that sings, steps, and sparkles.

🕯️ Seymour Chwast x Joya “Drafting Table” Candle (Special Edition)

A collaboration with graphic design legend Seymour Chwast. This candle captures the feeling of being in a vintage design studio — nostalgic, warm, and highly creative.
The candle comes housed in a custom-cast porcelain vessel, designed with a raised texture that nods to traditional woodblock printing. When lit, the all-white vessel emits a warm, translucent glow — subtle and architectural, like a light left on in a studio at night.

Seymour Chwast is a native New Yorker and noted illustrator. He currently has an exhibition at Poster House in Chelsea, NYC which focuses on the impact Push Pin, his studio with Reynold Ruffins, Edward Sorel and Milton Glaser, had on American illustration.

Inspiration is the portrait of a solitary artist: Moonlight and warm light on a worn drafting table, pencil shavings, smudged sketches and diagonal waves.

To celebrate the release, Joya also created a capsule collection featuring limited-edition hoodies, notecards, and lighters, extending the spirit of the studio beyond scent.

Fragrance Notes: Texas Cedarwood, tobacco, red juniper, vetiver, oakmoss, dry and sheer ambers, frankincense, chalk dust, musk and suede.

The scent is subtle, luxurious, persistent, present. It is sheer cedar, amber, musk and paper—all heart and base notes—no top.

🕯️ Tom Fruin x Joya “Daylight” Candle

The latest installment in the Tom Fruin x Joya collaboration, “Daylight” captures the essence of a fresh New York morning. Notes of wild mint, dried grass, and cool dew recall a more native, untamed version of the city. When lit, the candle’s intricately designed vessel projects soft, patterned light — much like Fruin’s iconic stained-glass installations that scatter color across the urban landscape.

Tom Fruin is known for turning familiar architectural forms — like water towers and sheds — into luminous public sculptures. His work reimagines overlooked elements of the city, transforming them into visual landmarks. Inspired by his ability to reshape perception, Joya invited Fruin to co-create a scent that channels this urban transformation into something intimate and sensory. “Daylight” brings that luminous magic into your home.

Fragrance Notes:
Top: Valencia orange, cardamom, cocoa, spearmint, cornmint
Heart: Reseda, cut grass, hay, cyclamen, linden blossom, rose, clove, raspberry leaves
Base: Haitian vetiver, galbanum, amber, ylang-ylang
A bright, green, and quietly complex scent that shifts as it burns — earthy yet refreshing, like sunlight hitting a city garden.

🖤 A24 Noir Car Freshener

Fragrance Notes: Incense, leather, smoke
A moody, cinematic scent made for your car. Noir is perfect for setting the tone of an evening drive — mysterious and magnetic, like your favorite black-and-white film.
Designed to make your car feel like a scene from a film, these scented tags transform even your daily commute into something more atmospheric.

No. 4 – Noir is a scent inspired by moody classics and late-night mystery. Picture rain-slicked streets, lingering perfume, cigarette smoke, and the soft clack of a typewriter. It’s cinematic tension and allure, bottled in fragrance form.

Fragrance Notes:
Wild honey, lemon, concrete, amber, jasmine, vetiver
It’s smoky, seductive, and slightly sweet — perfect for setting a scene wherever the road takes you.

FINAL THOUGHTS:
Joya Studio is more than just a fragrance brand — it’s a storyteller. Each product is layered with care, culture, and craft. Whether you’re lighting a candle, applying a fragrance, or pulling on cozy socks, you’re stepping into a thoughtfully created experience.
